Signing MoU with BMCCI: Here's Why It Matters to Me
By Sadiq M Alam · Dhaka · 29 August 2026
Tonight, at the Ballroom of the Sheraton Dhaka, I signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) and Metamorphosis Ltd., the company I founded. It was one of those moments you replay in your head on the drive home.
The occasion was BMCCI's "Towards a Stronger Bangladesh-Malaysia Partnership" event. The room carried the right kind of weight: Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain, MP, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, as Chief Guest; H.E. Mohd Shuhada Othman, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, as Guest of Honor; and Md. Fazlul Hoque, Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), as Special Guest. When you sign a piece of paper in a room like that, you feel the size of what it represents.

What we actually signed
In plain words, the MoU makes Metamorphosis the ERP and digital transformation partner of BMCCI and its member organizations.
BMCCI has spent 25 years connecting the business communities of Bangladesh and Malaysia — 277 member organizations across 21 sectors. Trade between the two countries reached about US$294 million in exports and US$2.6 billion in imports in FY 2023-24, and everyone in that room believes it can grow much further. That is a lot of businesses, and a lot of them are still running on legacy systems.
Why this matters to me personally
I have spent my career building technology for businesses. What I keep seeing — in Bangladesh, in Malaysia, everywhere — is the same pattern: ambition is never the bottleneck, the systems underneath are. Companies want to grow, but their accounting lives in spreadsheets, their inventory sits in three different places, and their managers make decisions on reports that arrive a month late.
This partnership is my attempt to change that, at scale, for a whole business community.
Under the MoU, Metamorphosis will work with BMCCI members across five areas:
- Odoo ERP implementation — end-to-end, from requirement analysis and configuration to data migration and go-live support;
- Business process analysis and re-engineering — documenting how businesses actually work, then making it work better;
- Finance, inventory and operations solutions — including AI-enabled reporting and business intelligence;
- Training and enablement — role-based training, train-the-trainer programs, and AI literacy for teams;
- Technical support and maintenance — so systems keep improving long after go-live.
And the part I am most proud of: eligible BMCCI members get a 10% preferential discount on Odoo ERP implementation services. Digital transformation should not be reserved for large enterprises. A growing SME in Gulshan should have the same access to world-class ERP expertise as a multinational — that is the whole point of this arrangement.
The thirty seconds that matter
People ask me what it feels like to sign an MoU. Honestly, the signing itself takes thirty seconds. What stays with you is the handshake after, and the conversations that follow it — other business leaders walking up, asking what Odoo could do for their companies, what it would cost, how long it takes. That is when you know the paper will actually do something.
What happens next
Over the coming months, Metamorphosis and BMCCI will run member workshops, digital-readiness assessments and implementation roadmaps with interested companies. Each project will be scoped individually — the MoU is a framework, not a promise of a specific project. But the direction is set.
